BrainyTot is affiliated with Child1st Publications, LLC, a company that designs and publishes materials for children who learn best through images, stories, body movement, hands-on activities, exploration, music, rhymes, and other such avenues for learning. While the focus at Child1st is on remediation for children who are already struggling, BrainyTot is all about introducing little children to learning and doing so in a way that is most natural to them.

While the focus on the BrainyTot blog is on designing developmentally-appropriate products, we also are fully cognizant that success in life and in school depends on much more than book learning. Emotional intelligence is truly the foundation for success in school and in life. For this reason we have included pages where these skills are discussed–where readers can find resources by experts. The particular experts we have chosen reflect our own reliance on their expertise. While there are many who can be rightly called expert, rather than list many, we’ve chosen those we feel are the best of the best.

Sarah Major, CEO of Child1st Publications, has taught students from preschool to adult. She has been a Title 1 director and program developer for grades K-7, an ESOL teacher, a classroom teacher, and home schooled  preschool and kindergarten. Sarah was also the recipient of the awards for major academic program improvement and outstanding parent satisfaction while in Title 1. As an undergraduate student, Sarah attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. where she received a B.A. in art. Later, she received her M.Ed. from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI.
